Hairy Naughties

My childhood heroines were mostly from cliché and dull TV shows. Even though many of these had misogynistic vibes and conservative messages, many of these girls were powerful and fearless women who dared to wear whatever they pleased thanks to the styling teams behind them. The style of many of these girls evolved into an ironically tacky signature style exploided in the red carpet and in a film that is, as I see it, one of the best feminist stories of all time adorned with incredible styling by Mona May. All these referents made me want to build a tribute shoe for these ladies. The result is a RECYCLED slingback embellished with faux hair and a lot of hair accessories. The kind of shoe I wish Romy and Michelle would have worned while dancing to Cindy Lauper’s “Time after time”. Let’s face it, blondes just want to have fun.
